Why the word God gives you the ick

Many people who feel called to healing work struggle with conventional Western religion.

What’s often missing isn’t faith.

It’s recognition.

A lot of Western religious language presents God as singular, hierarchical, directive, often implicitly masculine.

For some people, that works.

For others, something essential feels absent.

Not because God is wrong but because the way God is presented to us doesn't resonate.

Across many ancient spiritual traditions, God was never understood as only masculine or feminine.

God was both.

Creation itself was seen as arising from the union of the masculine and the feminine.

Oneness teaches us that the masculine and feminine are within each of us, that God/Goddess is not an external being but that it is us, it is everything. Essentially you are Creator having a human experience of remembering and awakening.

When we offer Reiki or prayer we are not connecting to or channeling something that exists somewhere out there in the universe, We are connecting with the divinity that already exists within us. We are connecting with our oneness with all creation including our clients or loved ones. That divine aspect of us is limitless, it is both masculine and feminine in divine union, and it is through that remembering that healing and a return to balance occurs.
