Infertility, Birth, and Root Chakra Excess: How Feeling Safe Affects Your Journey
The journey to conception and pregnancy is deeply emotional and can sometimes be full of uncertainty. For many, infertility can feel like an overwhelming challenge—one that often brings a heightened sense of control, especially when the process isn’t unfolding as expected. What many don’t realize is that these feelings of control might be tied to an imbalance in the root chakra, the energy center that governs our sense of safety and security.
In this post, we’ll explore how root chakra excess can affect fertility and conception, and how balancing this chakra can lead to a more peaceful, surrendered journey towards pregnancy.
What is the Root Chakra?
The root chakra, or Muladhara, is the first of the seven primary chakras in our body. It is located at the base of the spine and is responsible for our feelings of safety, stability, and grounding. When the root chakra is balanced, we feel secure in ourselves and in our environment. However, when this chakra becomes imbalanced, especially with an excess of energy, we may begin to feel overwhelmed by fear, anxiety, or the need for control.
How Root Chakra Excess Affects Fertility and Birth
When someone experiences root chakra excess, they may feel like they need to have everything in control in order to feel safe. This need for control can manifest in various ways during the fertility journey.
For example, individuals may feel a strong need to dictate the timing of conception—such as obsessing over which month to try for a baby, or whether to conceive naturally or through IVF. While having a plan is completely natural, excessive control can block the natural flow of energy and manifesting desires.
The issue here is that control stops flow. Whether it’s trying too hard to get pregnant or stressing over every little detail, the excess root chakra energy can block the very flow of life that conception requires. People often hear the advice "don't try so hard" or "relax, and it will happen," but for someone with root chakra excess, these statements can feel triggering rather than comforting. The underlying challenge is that the root chakra’s imbalance can make it difficult to surrender and trust in the process.
How Root Chakra Imbalance Affects Other Chakras
The root chakra is the foundation for the entire chakra system. When it is imbalanced, it can ripple out and impact the other chakras, especially the upper chakras, which are associated with spiritual connection or faith.
One of the key issues with an imbalanced root chakra is the lack of faith in the universe or in any spiritual source. This lack of trust can make people feel like they have to do everything themselves—a mindset that is counterproductive to the process of conception and the birth journey.
When we’re unable to trust the natural flow of life and the universe’s support, we lose connection with the higher aspects of ourselves that help us surrender. This disconnection can make it even harder to move forward with grace and faith in the process.
How to Balance the Root Chakra for Fertility
The good news is that balancing the root chakra can help you feel safer, more secure, and more connected to the universe. When the root chakra is in harmony, it creates a sense of groundedness that allows the energy to flow freely throughout the entire body and chakra system.
Here are some practices that can help balance the root chakra and encourage a smoother fertility journey:
Yoga: Practicing grounding yoga poses like Warrior I, Tree Pose, or Mountain Pose can help activate the root chakra and create a sense of stability and balance.
Meditation: Meditation can help quiet the mind, reduce stress, and enhance your connection to your inner self. Visualizing a red light at the base of your spine (the colour associated with the root chakra) during meditation can help bring balance and healing.
Prayer: Engaging in prayer or affirmations focused on trust, surrender, and faith can help release the need for excessive control and open you up to receiving.
Grounding Practices: Spending time in nature, walking barefoot on the earth, or sitting quietly in meditation outdoors can help re-establish your sense of safety and connectedness to the earth.
Surrender: The Key to Fertility and Birth
The process of surrendering can be difficult for those who are dealing with infertility, but it is one of the most important aspects of balancing the root chakra. By allowing yourself to trust in the natural flow of life, you create space for your energy to align with your highest desires.
This is where practices like inner baby healing, a technique I talk about in other videos, can be incredibly helpful. Inner baby healing works to address emotional blockages in the womb and reconnect the individual to their deeper spiritual self. It helps release fear, trauma, and control, making space for a healthy flow of energy to support conception and birth.
Conclusion: Trusting the Process
Balancing the root chakra isn’t just about releasing control; it’s about trusting the universe, reconnecting with your spiritual self, and allowing things to unfold naturally. When you can surrender to the process and trust that everything is happening as it should, you open the door for the energy of manifestation to flow freely—leading to a healthier, more peaceful journey towards conception and birth.
